The Pukeahu National War Memorial Park is the national place for New Zealanders to remember and reflect on this country’s experience of war, military conflict and peacekeeping and how that experience shapes our ideals and sense of national identity.

Here you can learn the story of the National War Memorial, the carillon and its 74 bells, the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior and Simpson & his Donkey. You can uncover the history of Pukeahu as a site of Maori occupation and the meaning behind Nga Tapuwae o Te Kahui Maunga (the tangata whenua gardens). Or learn why the Australian Memorial is just the first of many memorials to be built in the Pukeahu National War Memorial Park.
